Nice soft easy delivery. Interesting freedom to include one's own style. Weight on appearance & legibility. Yeh – yah a signwriter! I find my handwriting is only near to the lowest mark & at that only when I go slowly. "Cursive" writing was surely for speed in a world that was rapidly rapid! "Fountain" pens; No pause for dipping; a continuous line, no lifting off. Built for speed. Now I see that you, (& I), do lift off. You, however, do your letters in little jerks. OK it works – just an observation – – – – you see.  To make it more legible I don't join up every letter. I hope you are correct about a resurgence in handwriting. I am almost ready!

I write sideways. like my hand comes across the page from the right and then I pull it across as I write. is that weird?

I like how your "r" and "w" are not connected to the next letter, they tend to make a mess in my writing

I'm probably one of the last people in California who still has to handwrite reports at work. If I had decent penmanship, I wouldn't mind, but I have – what I think is – focal dystonia of the right hand, which causes my hand to cramp or shake whenever I try using fine motor skills. This leads me to hold the pen or pencil in a death grip near the tip. I even tried to switch to fountain pens, but still have that problem…

I was taught how to hold a pencil at Primary school (Australia 1961 onwards). Today's young people seem to have lost the ability to use their thumbs properly when writing. The pen/ball point/ fountain pen is held in almost the same way they might hold a hammer or some other "agricultural" implement!

Thank you for this video. I am an old man and remember at school being taught to write using a pen and ink. This discipline helped me to learn to write well as we were marked down for blots which made us control the pen and ink. I really did enjoy those lessons as it was an art. However, since that time I have lost the strength in my hands as evidenced by examinations where my hands have hurt for days afterwards. It has been on my mind recently to step back and enjoy writing letters again and just enjoy the art of writing well. Until your video, there seems to be only calligraphy out there but you have corrected that.
    Many thanks

This video has changed my life! For years and years I have struggled with writing the "wrong way". My that what I mean is that I have always been very tense when writing and almost using my whole arm for the movement (which always results in rocking the table considerably!). My movement have also always been very jerky. Within two days of practising I am now writing just like you demonstrate and have now mastered a much more flowing style with a much better "rhythm". Thank you very much!
