Day 1 for me. I ordered a lettering for beginner book and my first tombow dual brush. It's hard but I'm willing to take on the challenge. What are great beginner pens and drills?

Just started like 2 weeks ago, still an amateur. My goal is to continue to practice to enhance my skill. My hand is kinda shaky when doing upstrokes😂

Hi Sharisse! This is my first comment on your channel, so nice to meet you!
I've started doing calligraphy only a couple days ago with a water brush and watercolor paints. It's really challenging to do strokes and drills when you want to make words and phrases already, so any advice on how to push yourself into practicing strokes would be appreciated!

I have been practicing my basic strokes, not every day, but when I remember. :). I have already got less shaky and the only strokes I'm really having trouble with are the ovals. I'm off to watch your oval video now!!

Awesome Sharisse! I'm struggling right now, I feel like I'm in the "middle" and there's not so much resource as there was when I was beginning. I'm pretty confident in strokes and letter forms, and I'm starting to get requests for calligraphy and lettering jobs! So I'm struggling with developing and improving my own style and also pricing!!! Specially because I'm in Brazil and I don't see such a large on-line community here to discuss pricing! I've purchased the pricing book from Becca (happyevercrafter) but it doesn't seem right to just convert the currency…
anyway, this is whereI'm at right now! 🙂

I've been learning brush calligraphy on my own for about 3 months but still can't manage to keep the rhythm and angles together.

Hi Sharisse, I'm so glad to see you back on YouTube! I love your style of lettering. I'm happy to see you again. I'll be watching to get your continued guidance!

Hi Sharisse, I have been doing handlettering for like 2 and a half months. The most difficult things are finding different fonts and some really inspirational and motivational quotes/words for me. It's also a problem that tombow dual brush pens are quite expensive in my country, it would be great if you adviced some quality and cheap brush pens. Thank you for everything!

I actually finally ordered 10pc tombow dual brush pens just last week. I think it's been a yr since I took your workshop, now time to get back at it. Lol. Look forward to your #Youtober.

Hey there Sharisse! So great to see you here again! I'm trying to take my lettering and calligraphy to the next level currently.. been practicing lettering for a year and a half now and it's been an amazing amazing amazing journey! I'm trying to develop my own style of lettering as of now and it's much more work than anticipated! I do love the process though so that's a bonus!

On the other hand I've been into traditional calligraphy since for forever and now (thanks to a wonderful friend) I've finally picked up my (makeshift) holder and been practicing Foundational Hand 😊

It's been a bit crazy though since I don't know how I can carry on practicing both lettering and calligraphy! So I'm still trying to figure out how to work things out with studies on the side too!

Wow, this is a long message oops! 🙈 Aaand, you may or may not remember me from Instagram (I am unicorndooodles there!) 😊

I began in March and through practice I am doing pretty good! I found out quickly that a good pen and quality paper truly matter and makes a HUGE difference! I am really excited to have you back on YouTube because there's a lack of true Lettering Videos that showcase the actual lettering of quotes, words and even fancier pieces! Please share with us because WE MISS YOU!!!! (((((HUGS)))))) Laura from Massachussets! Bloopers galore love it!!!!! Blahhhhh…Lolololol!!!!

I have a beginner kit with some instructions, 5 pens, and a practice book. Total newbie here!

Hi Sharisse! Glad to see you back on YouTube! I've been working with your basic stroke series for about a month and a half now. Still shaky, but I can see the practice starting to pay off. But definitely still a newbie when it comes to calligraphy. I'd love to see some more emphasis on uppercase letters. My practice as a beginner has revolved around lowercase letters, but I'd love to try and work on uppercase calligraphy. Thanks!

Great idea! I'm from Italy. I follower your on line course "calligraphy rockstars" . You're a great teacher and I'm so happy to improve my calligraphy. I would like my calligraphy to be more consistent (do you have tricks for it?), but I'm avaliable to follow everything you suggest as a teacher.

My friends keep encouraging me to make money from my calligraphy, they are very encouraging. I never feel like it's good enough. Lol. But I have no clue how to price my work if I did decided to make some extra money with it. I love, love it, it is such a creative outlet for me.

A local artist (I live in Trinidad & Tobago) asked me to consider teaching a brush lettering for beginners class at the end of the year. I'm struggling with feeling like my lettering isn't good enough to teach other people and with the logistics of actually putting together a workshop (creating a workbook, sourcing materials locally, etc) before I actually say yes.

I found your Basic Stroke series a couple of weeks ago and have been watching those videos and practicing what you showed, so I'm super excited that you're doing this! Perfect timing. Also, I feel your pain in having to clean up and order your studio I've been working on mine for at month, at least!

Still practicing drills!!! But I’m practicing words also. Trying to learn from everyone that is taking the time out to teach!!! Miss my classes with you though!! Glad to see your back on YouTube!! Yay!!! 🤗💖😍

I've been doing faux calligraphy since I was in 5th or 6th grade and I finally decided after watching all the talented letterers out there with brush markers on instagram that I wanted to jump in and start myself! My upstrokes are not the best in the world and I really want to learn how to add unique touches on normal words!

Hi, Sharisse! So glad to see you’re posting videos again! I started doing calligraphy last year by watching your basic lettering series but wasn’t happy with my results. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t practicing enough and was expecting to pick it up quickly. I stopped practicing but just started again in September. I’m excited to follow you on your Youtober journey!

So happy you are back. I started a few months back brush lettering. Your videos were the best resources I found. I can actually make some works look pretty and that is because of your videos. Thank you! Looking forward for the month full of new tips.

Hi Sharisse, Today is my 1st day as a beginner, and it is October 5th. I will try to get caught up as the class continues. I have only seen two styles of writhing that I like. One is yours and you teach a class, the second person is too busy and did not teach a class. Both of your writing is so similar. I have wanted to write this way for such a long time, and now I have a chance , so thank you, I was so excited to see how you wrote my name, and is is just beautiful,,💕 I can not wait to get started, friend and student, Lenora Davis
